Arsenal are set to make a £70m bid for Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed the biggest breakthrough in the ongoing saga.
The Premier League champions are preparing to sign the Brazilian midfielder after agreeing personal terms behind the scenes.

Fabrizio Romano reviews Arsenal and Bruno Guimaraes
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano dropped a major update on the 28-year-old Newcastle captain’s push:
“Arsenal is ready to send a new request for Bruno Guimaraes… Arsenal has a full agreement with Bruno Guimaraes personally – so the contract is ready, the contract is finished. Bruno says yes to the Arsenal project.”
According to Romano, Guimaraes has clearly informed Newcastle’s management of his desire to join Mikel Arteta’s team.
Although the midfielder is keen to remain respectful of Newcastle and avoid a wrongful exit, his intention to seek a new challenge is clear.
“Bruno wants to respect Newcastle, so he doesn’t want to end the relationship, but Bruno wants to leave. Bruno made it clear to Newcastle that he has decided to leave.”
Newcastle have previously rejected approaches from Arsenal, including an offer worth £55m plus £10m in add-ons.
However, the Gunners are now expected to test Newcastle’s decision with a formal offer of up to £70m.
While Newcastle are adamant that they do not want to sell, Arsenal are hopeful that a bid of just over £70m could open up negotiations.
Having just come out of talks with Morgan Rogers where prices rose to £117m, Arsenal remain disciplined, yet Arteta is pushing relentlessly to secure Guimaraes.
“The expectation of those holding the deal is that Arsenal will present a new bid after receiving around £55 million plus £10 million in add-ons which have been rejected by Newcastle. These were all verbal proposals.
“Now Arsenal are expected to reach £70 million for Bruno Guimarães. £70 million is probably not enough to convince Newcastle, but it will be a way to get close. So Arsenal hope to close the deal at £70 million.
Arsenal have no intention of overpaying. So Morgan Rogers, for example – Arsenal wanted a player, of course he was a target, but for £90-100 million… they wouldn’t pay £117 million. Now for Bruno, Arsenal are very clear: £70 million is a bid they are willing to present, but they won’t do something completely crazy. So it’s up to Newcastle and Arsenal now to see what happens.
But it’s certainly interesting to follow, because Arsenal have a deal with the boy, and trust me – behind the scenes, [Mikel] Arteta is pushing like crazy to sign Guimarães. Arteta wants him. Arteta considers Bruno to be the perfect fit for Arsenal’s full-back. So, work continues on this. “
How Guimaraes will improve Arsenal’s midfield
The potential addition of Bruno Guimaraes would represent a dynamic signing for Arsenal’s engine room.
Known as one of the most complete midfielders in European football, the Brazilian combines defensive tenacity with exceptional resistance to the press and creative distribution.
Guimaraes would add great control and composure to Arsenal’s midfield. The Brazilian is comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and has the passing range to dictate tempo, helping the Gunners advance the ball very well in deep areas.

He would also strengthen Arsenal defensively. Guimaraes is a very successful footballer who reads the game well, allowing teammates such as Declan Rice to play with greater freedom while providing more protection in front of the back four.
As well as his defensive qualities, Guimaraes cleverly offers his ability to pick out passes that cross the line and quickly turn defense into attack. His Premier League experience and leadership will make him an immediate asset as Arsenal continue to challenge for major honours.
