Just a quickie this week with a three-day week thanks to the All-Star break (maybe four if you count one game day). I hope you’re all feeling recharged and ready to get locked into the last TEN weeks of Razzball Comment Teams. With no baseball scores to check, many managers were looking to make a trade this past week. We had FOURTEEN major deals processed this week. We also had impressive numbers posted in just three days. We’ll take a look at that and take a quick look at the RCL universe for last week, week 17.
‘PERTY ‘PERTS
Each week we’ll take a peek at our residents to see who wants the best “professional” RCLer in the country. We’ll take notes, check postures and generally trap you. The article is also a link, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Not a lot of movement in a short week, but The Itch are the biggest gainers, with five points and the best week in the league. Itch now has 12 points on Mike. B_don was the biggest loser this week, dropping 5.5 points and falling one place to fifth.
RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE
Each week we’ll also look at the top ten standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers like you.
Alright, we’re officially in playoff/cutline mode at Razzslam! If you weren’t in the top five in your league, see you next year. Our tournament brackets are reset, but the regular season points percentage continues. Anyway, we have a new leader in Matt Cardinal. I was able to sneak into the top 10 thanks to a three player home run from Hunter Goodman on Sunday. Maybe I can bring one home for Team Razzball! I have the top 25 shown here for reference:
The first round will be from weeks 17-19, and I think the top 30 from the Championship Tier make it to the next round, but don’t quote me on that, I’ll never remember. But I know the top five from the WC tier make it to the next round. Here is the current position of the WC:
I know there is a cut of 20 teams in the final round (top 18 in the Championship and top two in the WC). I guess we’ll see what happens in two weeks!

A slew of deals this week brings the season total to 105 trades involving 286 players (181 unique players). Jarren Duran sold 5th; Jazz and Bazzana for the fourth time each. RCL 19 completed its tenth trade. The ECFBL has its first two agreements; now there are eight unsold leagues.
None of these deals look too bad without the Jazz for Luis Arraez…what is that?

15 dingers and 10 steals in a three day week is pretty wild. I’m going to guess that one Hunter Goodman is involved in a 15-homer team. Love seeing a zero ERA sneak in with the minimum IP cutoff! Unfortunately, this will not count towards the weekly records.

Summary: A short week TOW is still TOW and honestly, that’s a pretty good three day run. Drake Baldwin was 10 for 14 (.714) with five runs scored, three home runs, eight runs batted in, and one stolen base (which would have been great in a 7-day week) to pace the offense. Wilyer Abreu had consecutive 2-homer days and drove in six while hitting .357. Esmerlyn Valdez added a pair of long balls and Casey Schmitt and Jackson Chourio each had two steals. Jake Bennett threw six shutout innings and allowed just two earned runs in getting the win to lead the staff. Shane Drohan also won, hitting nine on the way. Peter Lambert (10 hits) and Troy Melton (9 Ks) had excellent outings. Gage Jump struck out eight, but only lasted 3 2/3 innings. Riley O’Brien contributed one save. The impressive three-day stretch added 6.5 points to their league total and moved them from 4th to 2nd. Good job!
