Ederson wants to join Newcastle after Man Utd transfer collapse

It looks like it is confirmed that Ederson will be a Manchester United player this summer. The Red Devils conceded a few, welcomed the midfielder for a trial and found a problem in the end.

Those at Old Trafford have since gone ahead to sign Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos in a double deal, while Ederson has since returned to Atalanta.

His Premier League dreams may not come true just yet. United’s loss could be Newcastle United’s immediate gain.

The Magpies are desperate for midfield reinforcements amid the threat of losing Bruno Guimaraes soon after losing Sandro Tonali, and missing out on Johan Manzambi.

Towards Newcastle

Lucas Bergvall (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Magpies have seen a £46m bid rejected for the Spurs player, who has told the club he wants to leave this summer. The youngster would be a quality addition, but there are already concerns that other clubs have rejected the Tyneside one.

Danilo (Botafogo)

Danilo would be an interesting choice. After rebuilding in Brazil, earning a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, the former Nottingham Forest man could solve a number of problems away from Newcastle. Whether they want to prioritize players in Europe will be a sticking point, however.

Mandela Keita (Parma)

After missing out on Manzambi, Mandela Keita would make a lot of sense. The Parma man will come much cheaper than the Swiss international and could offer the same quality as the 24-year-old Serie A star, who was in the top 95% of duels won last season.

Ederson (Atalanta)

Once, it could be Newcastle who used another club’s slip to sign Ederson from Atalanta. It is reported that Eddie Howe is a fan of this Brazilian player and St James’ Park know that he will not break the bank, if Man United agree on a deal worth less than £40m.

With Newcastle struggling to find midfield reinforcements, Ederson should be a viable option. The Atalanta man wouldn’t cost a ridiculous fee, is clearly open to moving from Atalanta, and has the quality to thrive at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have given the green light to sign Ederson

As reported by Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Newcastle have been given the green light to sign Ederson this summer. The midfielder is open to joining the Magpies just weeks after his move to Man United.

Old Trafford initially agreed a deal worth just £37m to sign the midfielder, before his medical failed. As far as Newcastle are concerned, that’s the lowest price they can make the most of if their medical team agrees to a move.

It will be an almost impossible task to emulate Guimaraes’ ability in possession, but Ederson can at least do a better job of clearing the ball and that will be important as Newcastle enter a period of transition.
