Arsenal have reportedly made fresh contact over a potential swap deal for Julian Alvarez, although there is still a problem with Atletico Madrid’s balance.
The Gunners have been repeatedly linked with the Argentinian player, and it seems that the story is not going away.

According to Di Marzio’s reporter Luca Bendoni, Arsenal have made direct contact with Atletico about signing Alvarez, while Barcelona are still heavily involved in the transfer saga.

“There is a new direct contact between the ownership of Arsenal and Atleti regarding a possible transfer. There is still a gap in the calculation of the rate of the Argentinian,” Bendoni wrote in X.

It seems that Atletico also do not really want to sell Alvarez to their rivals Barca, so that could end up being beneficial to Arsenal, as long as they are willing to pay.
Alvarez scored 20 goals in 49 games in all competitions last season, which was actually less than Viktor Gyokeres scored for Arsenal.
However, many fans would definitely agree that Alvarez’s overall qualities would make him a huge improvement over Gyokeres and the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

Alvarez is also Premier League proven from his time at Manchester City, so this wouldn’t be too much of a shock to him.
Whether that makes him worth paying such a huge fee remains to be seen, especially when Arsenal also appear to have other big targets.
As the HoA notes, the Premier League champions also want Morgan Rogers and Bruno Guimaraes, so unless they make a number of big bids this will be very difficult to do in line with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.
