Arsenal have reportedly made good progress on a potential transfer deal for Morgan Rogers, with Fabrizio Romano said to be the Gunners’ main target in attack.
In particular, it seems that Romano sees Rogers as a suitable target for Arsenal to replace Bradley Barcola, which is an interesting and important detail.
Rogers has been outstanding for Aston Villa playing outside or above the number ten, but it seems that Mikel Arteta must look at him with a view to playing him up front.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano made it clear that he predicts Rogers will go to Arsenal as long as they can agree a fee with Villa, although Barcola could be an option if that deal doesn’t work out.

“Many people say that Barcola is not leaving Paris Saint-Germain. He is not selling. My situation is different. I feel that there may be a move for Barcola and I have always told you this,” said Romano.
He added: “Now, to sign Barcola you still need a lot of money, you still need to convince Paris Saint-Germain financially, but the player is open to leaving Paris Saint-Germain. This is true.

“Liverpool has Barcola on their list. So Barcola is always on Liverpool’s list. I have told you this for months… Barcola is the most important thing for Liverpool, but obviously it depends financially on what they can do to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
“And again, for Arsenal, many of you ask me if I can be a target for Arsenal. For Arsenal, the first goal is still Morgan Rogers. If they can reach an agreement with Aston Villa, they will sign Morgan Rogers. If they can’t, Barcola can be an option. But at this moment, I feel that Morgan Rogers is the most willing to be a new player.”

Arsenal fans may be divided on who would be the better signing in Rogers or Barcola, both players have undoubtedly shown their quality over the past few years.
Both are technically gifted, play with great skill, and are still young enough to continue to improve, and of course both will be expensive.

So there isn’t much to it, but Rogers has the benefit of being proven in the Premier League and shining brightly in a Villa team that has done well to win the Europa League and challenge for Europe in recent years.
In contrast, Barcola didn’t always start for PSG, so he didn’t have as much pressure in Ligue 1, where his club used to climb to the title every season.
