While there are plenty of proven winners in the John Deere Classic field, such as Jordan Spieth and Ben Griffin, one promising young player is starting his professional career.

Former amateur Jackson Koivun makes his official debut this week at TPC Deere Run.

Koivun burst onto the PGA Tour scene last year as a rookie, using sponsor invitations to achieve a string of strong results, including a T11 at the 2025 John Deere Classic followed by three straight top-sixes.

He entered his final event as a novice at the 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills, where he compiled an impressive T23.

Koivun will play his first round as a champion on Thursday at 8:35 a.m. ET along with Spieth and Griffin.

You can watch the first round of the John Deere Classic on TV with the Golf Channel starting at 4 pm ET on Thursday. PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ will offer a special early broadcast beginning at 7:45 a.m. ET, along with a featured team and featured hole. The GOLF App will host Golf Channel’s live TV broadcasts.
