Leeds are ready to sign the future “best player in the world”.
Leeds United are closing in on a deal to make Fulham winger Harry Wilson their first signing of the summer transfer window on a free transfer.
It has been reported that the Whites have agreed a deal with the Wales international to bring him to Elland Road from Craven Cottage when his contract expires next week.
He chose not to sign a contract extension with the Cottagers, meaning he will be a senior when his contract expires at the end of June.
Leeds will then take him on a free transfer to strengthen their squad for the 2026/27 campaign, as Daniel Farke and the 49ers look to develop the attacking options at his disposal.
Wilson scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 36 Premier League games last season, and will hope to provide a similar level of production in West Yorkshire.
Leeds in race to sign Barcelona forward
The only concern for the Whites will be whether he can repeat those numbers, as he has not played regularly throughout his journey in the top flight, as that was his first season with more than six goals in the Premier League.
That’s why the 49ers are looking for another right-back who can’t make it to Elland Road who might be a better signing than Wilson.
According to reports in Spain, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in signing striker Roony Bardghji from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The report says that they are one of the teams in the Premier League who are interested in signing the Swedish player, but they did not mention the other sides fighting for the Whites.
It adds that the left-footed player may move to Camp Nou because he needs to raise money by selling for financial reasons, which could open up the possibility of a permanent exit.
However, the report suggests that the Catalan giants have yet to set a price for the attacker and a loan deal could be on the cards for him.
Why Roony Bardghji would be better than Harry Wilson
Wilson, who will turn 30 next March, is an experienced player who has just had the best season of his Premier League career, and may already have peaked.
There is a chance that last season was a bit of a rollercoaster for the Welsh striker and that he returns to his previous levels of production, scoring around five goals a season, which is still a strong return.
On the other hand, Bardghji is a quality midfielder and still has a lot to go through, which he could do under Farke’s tutelage at Elland Road.
Considering their 90 figures, the Swedish winger had more impressive numbers than Wilson suggesting he may have long-term success in the final third.
He averaged more xG, more xA, and more dribbles than 90, suggesting he could be more productive than the Wales international if given the chance to start a week without being a reserve player behind Lamine Yamal at Barcelona.
The 20-year-old talent, who journalist David Ornstein says wants to be “the best player in the world” in the future, also created a ‘big chance’ and provided one assist with a special skill in the Champions League for the Spanish giants.
Wilson, on the other hand, has never played a game in any European competition in his career, which speaks to the high pedigree Bardghji will be joining.
The Swede, therefore, could be the best signing for Leeds, especially if he can secure a permanent transfer, as he has the potential to provide more consistency in the final third, as well as a long-term prospect at the club.
It’s now down to the Whites to strike a deal with Barcelona, however, and it remains to be seen how much that will cost this summer.
