Rangers agree personal terms to sign SPFL star

Glasgow Rangers manager Derek McInnes was officially unveiled earlier this week after completing a move from Scottish rivals Hearts earlier this month.
Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie have both already been added to the squad since the end of last season, both arriving as Rangers fans and proven Scottish talents.
They may not be the only Scottish players signed by the Light Blues as they now have a Scottish manager who knows the league and country inside and out.
This coach who has been the coach of Jam Tarts is reported to be the one who is motivating the team to seek the contract of Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson, who was in the World Cup with Scotland this month.
It now remains to be seen whether the Light Blues can reach an agreement with the Italian club, who are keen on Nicolas Raskin, for the star midfielder.
Rangers are set to sign a Premiership midfielder
Ferguson, 26, made just 17 starts for Serie A side Bologna in the 2025/26 campaign and it will be interesting to see if he is willing to move to Ibrox this summer.
While the Scot may be the best player in the squad, the Ibrox giants are reportedly in the process of bringing in a better player than him.
According to X reports, Glasgow Rangers are closing in on the signing of Hearts central midfielder Cammy Devlin on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
The Australian player’s contract at Tynecastle expires next week and the Gers appear to be ready to sign him without having to pay a single penny as a buyout fee.
Devlin is said to have reached an agreement with the Premiership club on personal terms and will complete a move to Ibrox in the coming days.
If the deal goes ahead in early July, McInnes will have two of his Hearts stars, Devlin and Shankland, as key players for the Light Blues next season.
Why Devlin would be better for the Rangers than Ferguson
Ferguson is a Scottish international who has spent several seasons playing in one of Europe’s biggest leagues, but has only started 27 league games in the last two years.
Devlin, meanwhile, has made 49 Premiership starts over the past two seasons for Hearts, which shows that he will be loyal and strong for the Gers over the course of the campaign.
Their back-to-back performances for Hearts and Bologna in the 2025/26 campaign also suggest the Australian star has the potential to provide more for McInnes’ side in the middle of the park at Ibrox next term.

Devlin’s exceptional defensive stats suggest he will be more effective as a ball-winner for the Light Blues than Ferguson, something McInnes must prioritize after the side failed to keep a clean sheet in the final eight games of last season.
A rating of almost five and more collisions per game suggests that the Australian international will cut off more opposition attacks than the Scottish ace, which is also supported by different numbers of duels won per game.
Devlin, who also scored more goals at league level than Ferguson last season, has proven himself in the Premiership and as a star player for McInnes as recently as last season.
Although Ferguson has not played in the Premiership since 2021/22 and it remains to be seen how he will adjust to returning to this level after four years in Italy.
Therefore, Rangers could make a better signing than Ferguson if Devlin’s deal goes through in the coming days, due to his excellent performance in a Hearts team that came very close to winning this division last season.
