Former Rangers player backs McInnes to bring “special” wonderkid to Ibrox

Rangers are wasting no time this summer before welcoming in some much-needed reinforcements this summer and Kenny Miller believes another surprise name is on his way.

The Gers have not been afraid to ruffle a few feathers in recent weeks. They swooped in and signed Lawrence Shankland from Hearts to steal the captaincy, and followed that up by hiring their manager, Derek McInnes, to replace Danny Rohl.

After such a disappointing campaign last time out, it is vital that Rangers find their signing this summer. And that means the right kind of character, rather than just pure talent as far as Miller is concerned.

Talking to Football FanCastThe former Rangers player reiterated the need for players who can withstand the pressure of playing for such a big team, saying:It’s another important summer at Ibrox because there’s another new manager and the squad needs some strengthening.

Rangers are now close to another signing as the player flashes a £900k contract

The Gers are set to welcome another new face.

“And not only in the strength of the players, I think they need the type of character who can play for Rangers, especially in difficult times.

“Losing the first four games after the split is unusual. This is the business end of the season when the big teams are usually at their best and that was a complete collapse.”

There are several names that fit those criteria, including one who is already doing well in the Scottish Premiership.

Miller: Rangers could sign “special” star this summer

With Shankland already signed and sealed, another attacking star could follow after Miller shared what he heard about Rangers’ pursuit of Mikey Moore.

The former Rangers striker has heard that McInnes could sign the Tottenham Hotspur winger on loan for another season following a successful spell last campaign.

“It looks like Mikey Moore could come back on loan, which I think would be a good decision for the player and the club. So there will be a lot of players coming in and Rangers just need to make sure they are the right types to add to their current squad.”

Dubbed “special” by fellow Rangers star Jermain Defoe, Moore is still only 18 years old and full of potential. He would be a fantastic addition to Ibrox this summer.

What about Moore at Rangers?

It’s not just Miller who has heard of Moore’s possible return to Scottish football so soon after his last loan spell. According to TeamTalk, Rangers are making a big push to sign the youngster on loan for another season, while Tottenham are ready to open the exit door once again.

It won’t be down to Rohl this time, but McInnes has proven how well he works with attacking talent at Tynecastle and it would be good for Moore’s development.

The player, too, is reportedly keen on a return to Ibrox, which should give the Scots a big boost in the coming months.

Why the Rangers want Mike Moore back

Shankland is a good signing, but Moore will surpass that. He’s as direct and quick as they come, and still has that fearless energy of a young star. If the Rangers have a chance to secure his signature for another year, he shouldn’t hesitate.

An added bonus is that this is a player who may get better game-by-game. Last season Moore finished the campaign with seven goals and four assists. Next season, those numbers could be even more impressive.
