Spurs are closing in on the signing of Martin Dubravka

The 37-year-old former Newcastle United player has spent recent campaigns at Turf Moor and has been a standout for Burnley, starting 35 games for the Clarets despite their relegation from the Premier League.

With his current contract set to expire in a week’s time on June 30, Dubravka is available on a free transfer.

He has emerged as the top choice at the top of Tottenham’s short-listed goalkeeper targets, representing what would be a savvy, cost-effective addition to the squad.

The imminent arrival of the Slovakia international is designed to inject valuable top-flight experience and maturity into Spurs’ goalkeeping department.

Guglielmo Vicario is said to be leaving the club, and Inter Milan are showing great interest in the Italian player.

Dubravka’s arrival on a free transfer allows the club to bring in experienced reinforcements while allocating its main financial resources to restructuring other areas of De Zerbi’s tactical plan.

Dubravka has extensive Premier League experience

In securing Dubravka, Tottenham get a proven veteran with nearly ten years of experience at the highest level of English football.

Apart from his recent 35-game campaign with Burnley, the Slovakian spent six successful years at Newcastle United, where he played over 130 games in the top flight, won the club’s player of the year award, and helped lead them in the fiercest battles in the top flight.

He also enjoyed a short spell at Manchester United, giving him a keen understanding of the pressures associated with playing for the “big six”.

Antonin Kinsky is expected to continue to start under De Zerbi

While Dubravka brings an extensive Premier League resume, he lands firmly in a secondary role.

Young Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is expected to retain his position as Tottenham’s number one.

Apart from the Champions League opener vs Atletico Madrid, the 23-year-old took over in the latter half of the campaign and finished the season in spectacular fashion, earning rave reviews and being named Premier League Save of the Season.

Kinsky’s individual performances have been crucial in helping Spurs through an incredibly turbulent period, proving his long-term ability in management.

Signing a proven, reliable veteran like Dubravka will provide Kinsky with the safety net and training needed to fully establish himself, covering the position while protecting the club’s defensive depth.
