Tottenham reject Brighton’s second bid for Luka Vuskovic

Tottenham’s transfer window has been the story of the summer so far as Roberto De Zerbi continues an ambitious rebuild ahead of his first full season in charge.

The north London club made another big move this week by agreeing a £52 million deal for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.

The Dutchman is expected to be one of the new arrivals this summer after he went public with his desire to move to Tottenham.

His arrival follows the signings of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, giving De Zerbi a few key additions to the defense at a minimal cost.

Attention is now beginning to shift to the next phase of Tottenham’s recruitment plans.

One of the biggest stories around the club is about the ambitious move for Newcastle star Sandro Tonali.

Spurs are preparing to open club-to-club talks with Newcastle over a move for the 26-year-old after identifying him as their first target (Fabrizio Romano).

The Spurs are not slowing down.

Landing a player of his caliber would represent a huge statement of intent from Tottenham.

The club also remain interested in Man City winger Savinho, according to multiple reports, and the Brazilian forward is seen by some as a perfect fit for De Zerbi’s attacking philosophy.

Those jobs underline the extent of Tottenham’s ambitions.

However, while the club continues to work on potential arrivals, they are struggling to get a high price for one of the most exciting young players.

Tottenham reject Brighton’s second bid for Luka Vuskovic

According to David Ornstein, Tottenham have rejected a second bid from Brighton for young defender Luka Vuskovic, with the bid said to be worth around £35 million.

Despite Brighton’s insistence, Spurs have made it clear that they are not willing to sell for that amount, and Sky Sports recently suggested that they could take almost twice that amount.

De Zerbi’s side are apparently valuing Vuskovic for around £60 million, so the Seagulls will need to counter their offers.

This decision highlights how high Vuskovic is in the team.

The young Croatian is regarded as one of the most promising young players in European football, and is fresh off the back of an impressive loan spell at Hamburg, where he made the Bundesliga team of the season.

Brighton is among those who believe his potential is great.

The Seagulls initially explored a deal earlier in the window before coming back with an improved offer, but with that second offer rejected, it remains to be seen whether Brighton will return.

Interestingly, Vuskovic’s future was discussed from time to time alongside discussions involving Van Hecke.

Brighton have been rumored to be interested in finding creative solutions during talks between the two clubs. However, Ornstein’s report makes it clear that cases are treated differently.

Tottenham have no intention of letting the ‘exceptional’ Vuskovic leave just because they signed Van Hecke.
