He is not the only attacking talent currently being eyed by club management. Yan Diomande’s name is a hot topic at the moment amid speculation he could join Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Rayan is another possible successor to Iraola at Anfield.

According to reports from Brazil, via Sport Witness, Liverpool have already begun scouting for the talented youngster who joined the Cherries for just £35m in January.

The report claims that Iraola would like to bring the defender to Anfield this summer as well, but his current employers are very reluctant to offload the Brazilian.

However, they have put a £130m price tag on the 19-year-old’s head, but it is unclear how much the Reds are willing to spend to secure his signature.

Why Rayan would be a better player than Barcola for Liverpool

As previously mentioned, this summer will be a crucial time for Liverpool and Iraola if the club are to push for the Premier League title in 2026/27.

Barcola has a wealth of experience, having played for PSG since the summer of 2023, often playing a key role in their success both domestically and internationally.

However, his left-wing role is one area the Reds have already filled in for the near and long-term future – with the emergence of young star Rio Ngumoha.

Salah’s departure to Anfield has opened up the need to strengthen the attack on the right – something that needs to be addressed this summer.

A big spend may be needed to replace a player of his caliber, with the deal for Bournemouth star Ryan a move that could see the club land another top attacking star.

In a short period of time, he has shown that he can produce goods in forward areas – something that Barcola was unable to do due to his lack of experience in England.

Although a deal for Rayan could cost upwards of £100m, it is a move worth making, especially considering his handling of the Frenchman in recent months.

The Bournemouth star, dubbed “world class” by team-mate Marcus Tavernier, has managed to create plenty of chances in 2025/26 – highlighting his ability to cause havoc in forward areas.

He also achieved a better conversion rate in front of goal, as well as a higher success rate of crosses – reasserting his dominance all around Barcola in the final third.

At just 19 years of age, it’s amazing to see such a young talent flourish in the Premier League – not to mention having to deal with a huge culture change and adapting to a new country.

£130m would be a staggering transfer, but there is no doubt that Liverpool will negotiate a potential transfer to try and secure a move for his services this window.

Because of this, the club should look forward to avoiding the departure of Barcola and focus on securing a transfer for Rayan to try to help Iraola in his quest for success.
