Crystal Palace want to sign Brighton star Coventry who they think will be the “jewel” of a coup.

Crystal Palace want to sign Brighton star Coventry City who they think will be a ‘big deal’, according to reports.

In 48 hours, Palace will leave Leipzig for one of the biggest games in their history.

The Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night offers the chance to win a first European trophy and one season, at home, that has been largely forgotten.

Germany’s silverware will change the whole complexion of the next one, especially with a Europa League place on the line.

The search for management remains unresolved.

Andoni Iraola remains Palace’s dream replacement for Oliver Glasner, but is now attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen and others.

Crystal Palace and Brighton have offered the “world-class” striker as a way out of the club’s green light

You will have a strong signature for both.

Filipe Luis has held talks with management as an alternative, according to talkSPORT, while Robbie Keane’s decision to withdraw from Ferencvaros could renew links from February.

Now, Palace’s transfer plans have been put forward, and they could raid their rivals.

Crystal Palace are expressing an interest in signing Brighton legend Solly March

According to Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are among seven Premier League clubs who have registered an interest in signing Solly March.

Brighton will let the long-serving winger leave on a free transfer this summer.

The Seagulls held the option to extend his contract by 12 months, but following talks between the club and the player’s camp, an agreement was reached for March to leave the Amex Stadium after more than a decade and 300 appearances.

The 31-year-old has been out of action since suffering a serious knee injury in May 2025 that kept him out until early March this year, but he is now back and steadily improving.

March’s appeal goes beyond his eligibility status.

He is widely regarded as the most reliable left-footer in the Premier League, and his versatility – able to operate as a right-back, full-back, or deep in midfield – makes him an attractive proposition for clubs with very different tactical needs.

His experience at the top level, his expertise, and the fact that he’s not available for free represent the kind of low-risk, high-reward deal that recruiting departments dream about.

Coventry and Ipswich, both preparing for life back in the Premier League after promotion, are understood to view March as a ‘valuable’ addition.

TEAMtalk reports that both newly-promoted clubs believe his leadership, technical quality and proven pedigree in the top flight can make a big difference as he looks to establish himself among the elite.

For Palace, the logic is straightforward. A left-footed, Premier League-experienced player who can cover multiple positions on the right and beyond – all without spending a penny on the fee – fits in well with a team that needs to strengthen quickly and efficiently.

Whether Palace can win the race given the sheer volume of competition remains to be seen, but the interest is clearly real.

Another big caveat is whether March would choose to join a rival like Palace, if there are more options on the table for his club.

First, though, there’s Wednesday. Then the reconstruction begins in earnest.
